First:Hi!
Some of you came by way of the Sheenazing Awards - those were a lot of fun.
Some of you found me through the Fountains of Carrots podcast - that was also a lot of fun.
And some of you found me when Kendra shared my Tips you might not learn in RCIA post - thanks for that love, friend!
And now here we are all together and I am so glad you are here.
Let me introduce myself.
Blurry pic. Sorry.
I'm Bonnie. My husband and I just celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary. We had five kids in five years; our oldest is now six and attends parochial school. Additionally I have two pre-schoolers and two more in diapers. Our first baby was lost due to miscarriage and I spent the first four years of parenthood suffering - and making everyone else suffer - from postpartum depression. I live small town Illinois and I'm in my early thirties.
Me breastfeeding my baby, drawn by my daughter.
Truth be told, I have a hard time remembering exactly how old I am. There's just too many numbers to remember with the kids' birthdays and what time school lets out and which zip code we live in now. I digress.
I really like music, British television shows, baking, decorating, and being Catholic. I also like reading, wearing red lipstick, and moms' groups.
See! I told you I love baking & being Catholic!
My family has a special connection with Venerable Fulton J. Sheen and his cause for canonization and I'm really blessed to be able to travel the country to share our story. (Maybe I'll be in your neck of the woods sometime soon! It would be so great to meet you!)
Blogging is a lot of fun for me and I want to keep it that way, which means I don't let myself get too stressed about posting on a schedule, writing clever post titles, or making money from blogging. I write when I write and it's always honest. I hope you're okay with that. (Oh! And I think Blogrolls are a good way to see how someone fits into which corner of the blogosphere. You can see mine here, if you'd like.)
Also, I have a dumbphone & a real love for dangly earrings.
And I think that's about the gist of it all.
Now I'd love to meet you! If you're a new reader please leave a comment below, introducing yourself. Tell me if you have a blog or an Instagram account. Are you Catholic? Who's your favorite band? Are you a crafter, a baker, a programmer? Married? Kids? Do you work outside the home? Let me know!
If you're new here, stick around! You can follow A Knotted Life on Bloglovin' or Feedly.
Plus, I'd love to connect with you. You can find me on Instagram, Pinterest, and Facebook. I hope to "meet" you soon!

I'm not a very new reader, been following you from the UK for about a year, but allow me to introduce myself. I live in Kent, about 50 minutes outside London, in a beautiful village called Penshurst. I have a 5 year old who is in school full time (we have to send them full time the September after they are 4 which was very hard for this mummy and for her very young 4 year old) I also have a firecracker 2 1/2 year old who is keeping us on our toes. We are hoping more will come along but it hasn't happened yet. I was raised Catholic, fell away from the church but kept something of it with me, I am not sure what, I suppose it's God. But one of the reasons it have been reading your blog is due to my interest and desire to return to Catholicism and provide that for my children.
ReplyDeleteLove the artwork :) my dad has a special affinity for Fulton Sheen as well, the Diocese of Peoria supports a school in Ghana that my dad helped start called the Sheen Academy.
ReplyDeleteHi, my name is Kate, and I'm a new reader. I found your blog via Kendra's. I have a blog myself, but it's new and I'm still sorting it all out. I am a Catholic newlywed. We are not expecting any babies yet, but hopefully soon! I enjoy trying out new recipes and reading all kinds of books. I love Kendra's and your posts on celebrating the liturgical year with your families. I'm archiving all of these ideas for when we have kids. Thanks for introducing yourself to us newbies!

Hi I'm Becca. I'm not really new I started reading your blog about a year ago but I don't think I've ever commented. I love your writing style and you are such a sweetheart. I blog over at threeplusmeblog.wordpress.com. Also thanks for hosting the Sheenazing Awards and your ideas for lent on the podcast were brilliant.
ReplyDeleteI recently introduced myself and my Illinois raised husband but I just have to comment here about your age issues. I will be 33 next month but have a hard time remembering my age as well. I actually am stuck at 28 in my mind. To the point that I have written it down on a paper. When it happened my husband saw it and said, "really?!?! You just turned 30!!!" I have to think hard about my age or I will answer really incorrectly. I guess 28 was a good year for me, at least to my subconscious. (It was the year I had my first baby...so either great or baby brain really hasn't worn off!!!)
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie! I am a newish reader and think I stumbled upon you in late November/early December, so I am not as new as those you are addressing, I guess. I just wanted to tell you I love your blog, anyway. I must have been living under a rock for all these years because I only just discovered Catholic blogs this past year and I have been super excited to discover you and lots of other lovely ladies. Most of the people in my parish are 60+ it seems. I have been enjoying the tea parties and quilting bees anyway, but it has been nice to meet a younger crowd, even if virtually. I am 32 year old Catholic convert, married 3 years to my latino hunny. I have a lone 13 year old boy from a previous relationship, but am just about dying to have a passel of kids. I am still learning all the awesome saints and liturgial living stuff, since I have only been Catholic 5 years (on Feb 14!!!) and was raised fundamental Baptist (not your nice, Southern Baptist...but the scary kind). I like crafting, but I am sort of mediocre at everything. And I also hate laundry...I can wash it and dry it, but the clean clothes never make it to the closet. Anyway, I love your writing style and you always make me laugh, even when you post about serious things--so thank you for that :-)
ReplyDeleteHello! Thanks for the new intro of yourself. It is very difficult and time consuming to dig out the backstory on prolific bloggers. I found you through Kendra's link. I am in the process of a now two-year conversion journey, and got my husband's blessing to begin RCIA this year. Right now I am studying, learning, absorbing, and learning how to pray. I'm a homeschooling mama to seven, ages 10 months to 20, and have blogged for over ten years, first at http://growing-in-truth.blogspot.com, but recently opened a brand new blog to celebrate my feeling of finally coming home in the faith, at http:surroundedbytruth.blogspot.com. Your posts have been so very helpful and encouraging to me! Thank you and God bless! I look forward to adding you to my list of regulars on my Catholic mama blog roll, which started two years ago with Sarah at Amongst Lovely Things.
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie, loooooooooong time reader here but I haven't commented in eons! Love your blog! Blessings, Jordan
ReplyDeleteHi! I'm Jess and I'm one of the many who found you via the Sheenazing awards. My husband, Keaton, and I have been married for 3 years and have two kids, Arabella (2) and Anastasia (4 months). Keaton is in the navy so we were living in Norfolk, VA when we got married and are now in Illinois, but I'm originally from Michigan. I stay at home with my babies and am still getting used to it, even after two years. I tend to throw myself at whatever I'm doing and sort of lose all else. I used to be a teacher, and it literally consumed my life because I wanted to be so good at it and wanted to inspire my kids. Now that I'm a mom I'm kind of throwing everything at that. While that can sort of be good, I feel like I've lost some of myself too, and am slowly working at regaining it. That's the long way of saying I don't have a lot of interesting hobbies or anything right now, but I did teach myself to knit recently and I got a sewing machine for Christmas, so I'll be taking classes on that soon too. And reading. I love reading. Love your blog!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a newbie and I usually just lurk. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm the blogger over at http://grace-filled.net and I'm not Catholic. (I'm Lutheran with some Anglicanism, Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy, and Evangelicalism mixed for good measure.) I'm currently a stay-at-home-mom with one boy (Daniel who will be 6 in April) and I've been married to my husband (a 4th generation Lutheran pastor) for almost 13 years. I love to cook, crochet, and do web stuff. (I've had a blog for 14 1/2 years.)
Hello! I found your blog through my friend who is also my RCIA sponsor. I will be joining the Church this Easter Vigil!! I am married to the most wonderful man and we are expecting our first little one in June! I blog over at uphillanddown.wordpress.com. Thank you for all of your wonderful and honest post on life and Catholicism, I am learning so much!
ReplyDeleteBonnie we're phone twins!! I am JUST about to get rid of mine to get a smart one - selling out at long last - but that pick makes me think twice just because i love you so much, lol! I also love dangly earrings. I however, rarely bake - but I do love your cakes in the pic :) Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie! I'm not "new" around here, but I don't think I've ever really introduced myself. I have been following your blog for at least a year (I think?) and your Instagram a little more recently than that. You can find me at @herewegeauxblog on Instagram/Twitter, and a few other places if you start at my blog (herewegeauxblog.blogspot.com). I have really started to "meet" other bloggers in the last few months, thanks to your Sheenazing Awards. My husband and I were married a little over two years ago, I work outside the home, and we are TTC (with not much luck so far). Thanks so much for welcoming us all to your blog home, and I look forward to following along for years to come!
ReplyDeleteBonnie! You are hysterical. I've been following your blog for just a few weeks, and found you through some other link to the Sheenazing awards. I have a blog (Never Serious Blog), and Instagram, and a new husband of almost a year. I'm not Catholic (yet) but know that I will be very soon. Right now I'm trying to figure out how to "come out Catholic" to an entire world and past life of protestant family and friends (and HUSBAND). And it's tough. I don't know any Catholics in person, so the online and blogging world has been the one place where I feel like I'm not alone in this crazy journey. Thanks so much for all that you do for people like me!
