An Advent Care Package Just for You {a giveaway}

Thanks to everyone who commented! The giveaway is closed now! Best of luck to those who entered!

The holiday season is right here, people! I'm almost stressing out about all the stress I'll probably be feeling, which is ridiculous, I know.

But! There is food to make, gifts to buy, and Christmas carols to avoid so I don't hate them by December 20th! I need to figure out gift exchanges, how I'm going to get everything clean, and what in the world I'm going to wear.

Maybe you're stressing about similar things. Probably.

And since I really do love and appreciate you guys, I want to help and maybe make your Advent more fun and less stressful. So this giveaway is for you.

One lucky A Knotted Life reader will win an Advent Care Package with a value of over $320*

Picture it:

You have a cookie exchange party to attend tomorrow night but you don't have time to go get a manicure, do your hair, or bake.
But now you can put on some cute, festive Jamberry Nails, make your lips look perfect with some Roden+Fields lip care products, pull your hair up with a Lila Rose flexi clip, and take two dozen homemade chocolate chip cookies that you didn't have to bake.

It's December 5th and you need some stocking stuffers for St. Nick to leave the kids because you forgot and you have nothing.
But now you have plenty of gold chocolate coins; a hip, new cd for you pre-teen son; some lip balm and hand cream for your teenage daughter; a book about St. Joseph for your husband, and a beautiful Our Lady of Guadalupe bracelet for you. Thanks, St. Nicholas!

People are coming over in an hour and the house isn't ready!
So whip out the Norwex dusting mitt, pass it to the kids and have them met busy. While they're doing that, you can set out the gorgeous Madonna in Blue print from Audrey Eclectic. Your guests will come and spend so much time noticing its gorgeousness they won't even see that you didn't have time to mop.

You seriously need a break. Right now. Just you. Please, good Lord! A break!
So warm up some of that chai tea, pour it into a cup wrapped in a cute coffee cup cozy. Warm up the organic cotton and flaxseed sack and lay it on your shoulders, so full of stress. Grab your copy of The Little Way of Advent and your Blessed Is She Advent journal. Get snug and read and write.

Is it bad to really just want chocolate chip cookies? I've heard yours are practically world famous. Also want that dusting minute because you know, dust.

  4. Hello! Such a fun and considerate advent care package. My recommendation is a book, 35 Doctors of the Church. It sounds dry but each chapter is short and very conversational in tone. I hope you advent goes swimmingly. We are already digging ourselves outta some serious snow here.

  16. what is great giveaway! My husband and I have been watching Foo Fighters Sonic Highways on HBO. It's a series that follows the band around while they record one song from from their new album in a different city. You get a really great history of Rock and Roll in each city and Dave Grohl interviews pretty much everyone of note from each place. Worth checking out.

The lip care items would be most appreciated right about now with winter in MN. The beautiful novena bracelet would probably perk up my wintery blues a bit too.

I will definitely be checking out more of these items to give as gifts. Thanks for sharing!

  23. Good morning Bonnie! I would like to win anything in the pretty section because that is the area of my life that has currently fallen by the wayside. I hesitate to recommend things because I generally disagree with other recs but right now I am into the Frank Sinatra/Dean Martin/Perry Como/Bing Crosby Pandora station. I was apparently born in the wrong time period.

  32. One great book to I try to read each Advent is The Reed of God by Caryll Houselander! It is all about our Blessed Mother, the way she carried Jesus and prepared for His coming, and how we can do that in our own lives. SO powerful and beautiful! Thank you for sharing, Bonnie! May your Advent season be one of great joy and blessing as we prepare for the Birth of Christ!

  33. What a fantastic selection! Must I really pick a favorite?! Okayyy... I'll go with the 8x10 print of Mary. And the cookies. Yum. :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Hello! I highly recommend the book The Tree by Denise Mallett...also the song 'Night Swimming' by REM. The books are what I would be excited for!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Howdy. That is a great selection. I don't know what you're tastes in movies run to, but I'd like to recommend Ugly Betty the tv show. It was fabulous! I can't choose between the something pretty or something sacred, they both appeal!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Alright, I've been meaning to comment for a long time to tell you how much I like your blog, but I feel weird because I met you at Josh and Kim's wedding and have been meaning to comment since then!!! Yikes. So anyway, your blog is wonderful. I would love to have Matt Faley's music, I knew him when I was a missionary at Bradley. God bless you and your family!

  37. Hello! I'm loving the Madonna print--gorgeous! Also, someone mentioned it on Facebook but I thought I'd say again that Jennifer Fulwiler will be in Dubuque in February for the Martha and Mary conference. Unfortunately my due date is 2 days before this conference...:so I don't know that I'll be there :( I also can't make Edel because my brother-in-law is getting married that weekend. So just a little "I'm with ya" on the Edel front as well ;)

    ReplyDelete
  38. Hi Bonnie! Love your blog. Wish we lived closer because I think we would be good friends! Awesome giveaway, you are an amazing woman! Have a blessed day!

  39. Sorry, I've been having trouble posting my comment! My reccoemdnation for a book for you is "Enduring GRace" portraits of seven women mystics. I hope I win since so many things in this amazing giveaway would make me happy!

  40. I'm the "Blank" above who reccomended "enduring grace". Sorry I can't seem to get the hang of this computer stuff. Hopefully now you can see my name!

  41. Thank you for this offer! I would love the Advent journal. Our Advents have never been very reflective; lately the wreath even gets ignored. I want to try to have our home be more thoughtful toward the season.

I have no recommendations; I'm always behind the times with movies and songs. However, I will say thank you for your writing. I had traumatic birth with my last daughter, and then got pregnant with my new baby. Your post on "9 months of doing it wrong" really helped me see how I should try to approach the pregnancy instead of stewing in my anxiety and frustration. Also, you had a phrase in another post about Fulton - something about a consolation of an easy pregnancy - that shifted my view of my daughter's birth. Her pregnancy was easy - a gift from God to help me be ready for the chaos surrounding her birth. I always felt guilty and mad about it before. So I would recommend your posts to anyone who hasn't read them yet.

    ReplyDelete
  42. What a fabulous idea! I'd love the books and journal!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Oh my gosh!!! So many awesomely fabulous things :-) I am with you -already stressing about the stress.

    ReplyDelete
  45. No way I can pick one thing. I've been over the list 3 times and I always end up with multiples from each section! I recommend the album Eventide by Voces8. Perfect for Christmas listening. Thanks for the lovely giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  46. How generous! I'd love to win any of those beauty items because I am 3 months postpartum and feeling decidedly frumpy. Would be nice to feel a little prettier. Speaking of pretty, I loved that little Instagram video showing your scarf skills and thought you looked so pretty (but didn't want to sound creepy saying that). And I learned something! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Wow! What a lovely and generous giveaway, Bonnie! If you're looking for a new Christmas CD (you know, once Dec. 20 comes around!) I can recommend Idina Menzel's "Holiday Wishes". Her rendition of "December Prayer" leaves me in tears every time I listen to it! I hope you and your family have a very blessed Advent! <3

  61. What a great idea. I'd love to win. As for a recommendation...I probably can't recommend anything you haven't already listened to in the music department. As for books, have you read Fatherless? It's a Catholic novel that I enjoyed a few years ago. I haven't been able to finish the first sequel (Motherless) or even start the third of the trilogy (Childless) but I hope to at some point. :)

    ReplyDelete
  62. Ooh, so many good things! I've been eyeing up those novena bracelets for awhile now...

    ReplyDelete
  63. I've been reading for a couple of years. Thanks for the giveaway!

  64. I am listening to the Pentatonix Christmas album and it is awesome! I highly recommend it. Oh and I love all the items in the giveaway above, but am leaning towards the Our Lady of Guadalupe bracelet as being my favorite, well, 2nd only to your cookies of course. Even though you sent me the recipe, I don't have high hopes that I will be able to replicate them as good as you! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  65. Don't be so stressed! Advent isn't supposed to be a stressful time for us, but a time for simplifying in preparation of the birth of Jesus! The Our Lady of Guadalupe novena bracelet looks beautiful!!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Good luck everyone! Have a blessed Christmas season! - Mollie Riportella

    ReplyDelete
  67. I would like the cookies most of all. Chocolate chip cookies are my weakness.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  70. Wow! I love the novena bracelet.

A blessed advent season to you!

    ReplyDelete
  79. You are awesome! What a fantastic giveaway! There are too many cool items to pick what I would like most of all.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I have severe morning sickness and can't really shop, bake, or do anything right now. On St. Nicholas Day, I was planning on stuffing my kids' shoes with leftover Halloween candy, but it would awesome to win those chocolate coins so they can have something more seasonally appropriate.

All the other stuff looks great too. What an awesome giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Hi, Bonnie! I've been "jones-ing" over the Advent Blessed is She Devo...

    ReplyDelete
  82. This is such an amazing giveaway, Bonnie! I have to say though that the thing I'm drooling over the most is the Advent journal. That would be such a special treat.

Anyway, this is a pretty random recommendation...and I figure you already know all the great Catholic podcasts, so I'll tell you one of my favorite ones outside of that niche. I love having a laugh & getting snippets of news through the Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me Podcast. Oh, and another podcast unrelated to the faith that I get absolutely tickled about whenever I find a new one in my queue is Suze Orman. I've learned so much wisdom listening to her & I find how she connects personhood to finances so spot on & illuminating!

    ReplyDelete
  83. Hi Bonnie. What an awesome giveaway! I am so curious about jamberry nails and would love to try them! I am reading Shirt of Flame: A year with St. Therese of Lisieux by Heather King with my mothers prayer group. I love it so far and it is a very nice life reflection book. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  112. Um, my comment might have disappeared. So, to reiterate, love the Madonna in Blue, wanna try your famous cookies!

    ReplyDelete
  113. Thanks for this great giveaway! I would love the Madonna in Blue print because you can't have too much devotional art...or so I tell myself. This isn't an Advent related recommendation, but if you're looking for rich writing with excellent character development try Jayber Crow and Hannah Coulter by Wendell Berry. Have tissues handy for the endings!

    ReplyDelete
  114. Well I would recommend Catholic Stuff You Should Know but you were the one you got me hooked on it! Awesome giveaway Bonnie!

    ReplyDelete
  117. What a great idea to bless others - so simple, but everyone likes to be remembered! The book that had the most impact on me this year is "And I Am Afraid of My Dreams" by Wanda Poltawska. I discovered it while reading way too much on the internet about St. JPII around his canonization time! Here is a link to an article written about her by a wonderful Msgr. in my area: http://www.catholic.org/featured/headline.php?ID=2206. I'd love to hear your comments on it if you choose to read it.

    ReplyDelete

  125. I've really been enjoying your blog lately and this is just so thoughtful! I have been drinking so much tea lately and love chai!

  126. Ooh, Bonnie. You are such a kind and generous soul. I could use some of that chai tea latte mix and your chocolate chip cookies right this stinkin' minute, actually. I'm hoping Advent turns out to be less stressful than this week has been.

  127. Thanks for offering this giveaway! I think the Our Lady of Guadalupe bracelet is so pretty.

  128. Well, as a freshly minted mother of 4 littles, the first thing I recommend is a nap, but that is mostly for me. Secondly, I recommend the Mothers' Manual. It is a beautifully written old timey prayer book with prayers for just about every need of motherhood and married life. So much goodness, and very inexpensive. I would love to win the chocolate gold coins so I don't have take the kids shopping to find some and then try to hide them while I check out!

  129. I love well curated giveaways of lots of items! This one is perfect!

I'd love the Audrey Eclectic art. I love her warm style.

And I recommend Quiet. It's a read which explores introverts, what makes them, how society treats them, etc. I keep mentioning it in conversations because pieces of it are just really interesting and stuck in my head.

And I recommend (my cousin) Paul Spring's Home of Song CD - it's a children's CD with a literary theme, and the music is SO good, and not "kiddie" at all :)

The OLG novena bracelet is beautiful!

Let's see ... as a major book lover, it's hard to recommend just one, but Emily Stimpson's "These Beautiful Bones" was a fantastic read -- beautifully written and packed with things to consider.

  138. I highly recommend He and I by Gabrielle Bossis. It is inspiring, makes you feel so loved by Christ and you can read little bits at a time. In fact, it's better to read a little at a time so you can meditate on what you read throughout the day. I have to say that I would love everything, but especially the Madonna in Blue print and the rosary bracelet! Thank you for your blog, I really love it!

  140. This is an amazing giveaway! I would love it all, but would most want the tea, hot flax seed pack, The Little Way of Advent book, and the Advent journal to help me relax and find joy throughout the Advent season.

We are currently halfway through watching one of these a night:

A book I'm currently reading is "st. John Paul the Great: His Five Loves." By Jason Evert. If you love JP II and think you've read everything about him, this book is fantastic. It makes me love him even more.
