1 - I'd probably go with this one if I were you. This is my ultimate "mellow day" song. It also gives me an incredibly strong desire to bake an apple pie. So you may need to watch out for that one.
2 - Confession: I really do love this song and I have for years. My younger brother went through a phase where he loooooved Dave Brubeck almost ten years ago, which is how I even know who in the heck he is. So maybe me liking this song is a little bit nerdy, but since several people accused me of being a hipster in my lipstick post I'll claim that it makes me incredibly cool. ;)
3 - Are you in the mood for pop? Well then, you're welcome. L thinks you have good taste.
4 - So Pinterest and I had a good week:

This week we're on 'G' (big duh, I know) and so we took a little field trip to the parish I grew up in, St. Mary of Lourdes, and visited the grotto. We stopped in the church to say "Hello" to Jesus, said a 'Hail Mary' in the grotto, and then the kids played on the slide. It was a good day.
6 - Congratulations to Cynthia for achieving one of my goals in life: being linked to in one of Grace's Clickable posts! It was well worth it, old roomie of mine!

I love all the Pinterest stuff! I was going to try my hand at those pumpkin crispy treats for my son's first birthday but I'm just doing the stick a pretzel stick in a Reese's cup for a broomstick instead...infinitely easier! :) Love the song choices, too!

ReplyDeleteI have a question, at what age did you start to do preschool with them? Maggie will be two in December and I am thinking of starting with her in the new year. She does go to pre-school twice a week for two hours, but I want to do some Catholic stuff with her at home.

Hi Sarah! Lydia, who is 4, is who I really focus on for the homeschool so I can prepare her for kindergarten next year. Bennet, who is 3, also does it with us but I will focus more on him next year. I do work on memorization stuff with both of them - prayers, address, saints, identifying letters, numbers, colors, shapes. Lydia mastered a lot of that stuff a long time ago and so I'm working more on penmanship, sounding out words, and sight reading with her. Bennet colors pictures while we do that!

The Pinterest creations were all super duper easy. I don't convert old entertainment centers into play kitchens - I shaped rice krispie treats into balls after spraying my hands with Pam.

DeleteOk I am the worst at crafts and I can't do pinterest because it makes me feel inferior. However, those pumpkin krispie treat things seem intriguing. What did you use for the stem?
ReplyDeleteThe stem is a tootsie roll cut in half. When you make them use a little more cereal than usual or else they won't hold their shape. Also, the actual pinned recipe calls for pumpkin marshmallows but I used regular $.99 store brand ones and food coloring. And make sure you spray your hands with Pam when you make them!

ReplyDeleteI promise you it is really, really easy. I am not a crafting genius, which is why I usually have to have my mom or my friend Katie (a true crafting genius) near to do the hard stuff. Or as my friend Kim said, "I knew that if it was too hard you'd get frustrated and not do it. So this is easy."
DeleteFun songs! My nine year old daughter and I agree that we would've enjoyed video #3 more if the singer were dressed more modestly. It would allow all the attention to fall on her music. Sure, she could be wearing less. But she could also be wearing more and let her beauty and femininity truly shine.

Actually, when I read your comment I thought of 2 things: 1) that study that showed that moms who talked to their girls about sexy clothes and modest dressing and celebrities had daughters who didn't want to dress sexy - so Good job you! And 2) It's one of the reasons I love Audrey Assad. She always looks so lovely and pretty and covered up!
DeleteFirst song. My nearly two year old had me play it three or four times in a row. Wow! Great pinteresting (new word!?)! And can I say I LOVE wreaths but have no money or motivation to make them (I think the no motivation is due to the lack of money, but anyway!). I'd rather be home with my babies than have wreaths. Ok maybe some days I would rather a wreath...but not usually! ;)

Okay, I did just get some income for a speaking gig but that wreath was cheap to make. $3 for the yarn and there was enough left over to make another winter-y wreath. 4 felt squares at $.23 each. A styrofoam wreath for $2.50-$4 (I can't remember the price!). All from Wal Mart. So I made that thing for about $8. Which is pretty cheap.
