Seven Quick Takes

1 - My blogger friend Hafsa recommended this song to me after I featured another one of Drew's songs. Isn't it lovely?

2 - I saw this image on Christopher West's Facebook page and I was immediately taken by it.
Look at how Mary is touching Eve's face and how she's putting Eve's hand on her womb. Look at how the serpent is wrapped around Eve's leg but Mary is crushing the serpents head with her heel. Look at how tender and beautiful it is. The image is called "Mary Comforts Eve" and the print can be purchased from the Our Lady of the Mississippi sisters.

3 - I immediately and impulsively bought one of the prints so I can hang it in my home. I also purchased some caramels because they make them, I love them, and why wouldn't you support nuns?! You can too, if you like.

4 - It is no secret that I am a big fan of Fr. Robert Barron. (Love him! May God bless and keep him!) Brandon Vogt is giving away Fr. Barron's newest series, Catholicism: The New Evangelization, so you should hop over to Brandon's site and enter to win!

5 - Maybe you've seen this really wonderful video about people with disabilities and mannequins. If you haven't you should click over and watch it. It's really, really great. Who is perfect?

6 - My family absolutely loves this dish.
I make a whole bag of frozen chicken breasts and I only coat them in the corn starch since JF can't eat eggs. I like to make some rice and broccoli to go with it and there are never, ever leftovers. Make it, eat it, and love it.

7 - The 2014 Sheenazing Awards... they're coming!
Start thinking of your favorite blogs so you can nominate.

Thanks, Mrs. Fulwiler, for hosting each week!

  1. I live in Dubuque and had the fortune of coming upon that print about 3 years ago when visiting their gift shop--definitely a favorite!! On the prayer card sized version I bought there was a poem on the back written by the artist which is just as beautiful! I hope it's included in what you purchased too! :)

    1. I thought I'd post the poem here for you to see, just in case ;)

My mother, my daughter, life-giving, Eve,
Do not be ashamed, do not grieve.
The former things have passed away.
Our God has brought us to a New Day.
      See, I am with Child,
Through whom all will be reconciled.
O Eve! My sister, my friend,
      We will rejoice together
      Forever
      Life without end.

      Have a lovely weekend.

    1. Sorry Jenny. Click on the link in #3 and then click on the word "Other Products". A drop down box will show; click on "Prints" and that will take you right to it!

    2. And then I went back and just added the link to the prints. Because that's easier. Duh, Bonnie

  8. Bonnie, when you make the recipe with frozen chicken breasts, are they the tenders or the entire breast? And are they precooked? Do you thaw them first? Sorry for all the questions. Maybe it's obvious but sometimes I have to be hit in the head with a 2x4. Thanks!

    1. Hey Aileen. I emailed you, too, but I thought I'd answer here too in case anyone else was wondering the same thing. Don't worry about asking. I'm the same way about some things so I totally understand.

I use the frozen chicken breasts, thaw them, trim them and cut them into ~1" bits. Then I coat them in just the cornstarch, salt and pepper and then cook them in the oil. I'm sure you could use the tenders but those usually cost a bit more so I tend to get frozen boneless, skinless chicken breasts.
