The Sheenazing Blogger Awards are named for Venerable Fulton J. Sheen. Sheen was amazing at using the newest forms of media to communicate the beauty of the Catholic Church and his love of Christ to the world. I'm positive that Sheen would be a blogger were he alive today and that he is in Heaven, totally approving of this award.
Here's a little update: A few concerned readers have contacted me questioning some of the nominated blogs, pointing out the authors' discrepencies with orthodox Church teaching and faithfulness to our Holy Father and the Magesterium. Please know that I did a brief review of all nominated blogs because I did not want to promote anything which my husband and I do not actually support. I did not have time to delve into archives of 100 blogs, I did my best, and I apologize if I missed something. Next year - if I'm crazy enough to do this again! - I will add the category "Best Blog by a Heretic" and try to better stress that all other categories are for Catholic blogs that are orthodox. End update.
And a HUGE thank you to everyone who has participated so far. I only did this because I thought it would be fun and I've been blown away by how many people wanted to join in. I'm glad that we can celebrate and honor the excellence that is out there in the internet, cheering on our friends and role models.

I agree that it would be stupendous if the blog names were hyperlinked someplace, but until then I've been highlighting them (on the voting page) right clicking, then selecting "search with google". It's always been the first result.

I'm in the same boat as others. I've never read most of these blogs and I don't have time to sort through them all. I do love the idea though. But I'd vote for Like Mother, Like Daughter any day. Auntie Leila is such an inspiration for me.

ReplyDeleteThis was a lot of fun, I voted for my faves! I have a question, though. Would it be possible to make a list of the blogs and their links? Or add the links to the voting page? There are a lot I've never heard of, but would love to check out! (I know I'm asking a lot, so i understand if it can't happen)

I hope that this isn't some sort of positive proof for the argument that rural folks are a little "behind the times," but I honestly had no idea that my blog even made it to one of your lists - what an honor! The greatest gift of "finding out" was the discovery of your blog, and the many fantastic sites that I now get to enjoy with my 5 a.m. cup of coffee, before the troops resurrect. Those "little" blogs help me march on out here in the middle of nowhere with a stronger faith and fortitude to keep going, even when it all seems so dog gone difficult. Happy to be your newest follower!
