JF did well on the cookie swallow!
At the last minute a friend offered to babysit L and Ben so I could be at the test and speak with the feeding therapist. I also got to talk to the nurse practitioner, the doctor and JF's nurse. My little boy is doing really well and I'm so proud of him!
They'll be starting him on bottles right away.
Please pray that he will continue to do well with bottle feedings. Once he is taking 8 full bottles a day he will be able to come home. That's our next goal.
Funny incident of note: JF is now in size 2 diapers because he weighs 11lbs 8oz. His nurse had to go up to the pediatrics floor to get diapers big enough to fit him because the NICU doesn't stock diapers bigger than size 1. Come on, that's funny.
THANK YOU, GOD!! I was praying so hard about this cookie swallow, Bonnie. Thank you, thank you, thank you, God.
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping that he's turned the corner here and that he's able to come all the way to completely healthy and a normal life.
*hugs* and many prayers of thanksgiving!
PRAISE THE LORD!!! I'm so excited to hear that James did well! :) Still praying! And also great to hear that he's apparently growing well; go James!
ReplyDeleteShut up!!!! Way to go baby James!
ReplyDeleteHa, that is funny!
ReplyDeletePraying he gets used to taking bottles quickly, and is able to come home soon!!
Praise God! I've been thinking of you guys all morning. Our morning here has been very difficult (on a day-to-day level) but I'm offering it up for you guys and for Baby James.
ReplyDeleteAll the best,

Bonnie this is WONDERFUL news!! Praise God!
ReplyDeleteI knew it...I stopped by to see him on Tues night while working, and he looked great...looking at his mirror and smiling at his mobile..said a little prayer over him!
ReplyDeleteI just left a VERY exuberant comment on your facebook page so i won't repeat it again (but, man, am I excited about htis news!!!). And, yes, that is funny about the diapers! haha! I just love those big fat baby boys!! I had a bunch of newborn size diapers ready for Abraham and then couldn't use hardly any of them! Rejoicing with you about James' progress! I can't wait to tell the girls - they have been so concerned and praying so much.

We have your little fella on our prayer list, and he's on my mind ALOT.
Thanks for the updates ( even if they do make me catch my breath!)
Oh, and thank you Jesus.
We'll keep praying.
Fantastic, I thought with a name like Fulton he had big shoes to fill now he has big britches to go with the shoes.
ReplyDeleteThat is SO awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteJames is going to pass up Brennan in weight...Brennan only weighs maybe 16 lbs. now. The NICU better stock up...with all the eating James is going to do, they're going to need a lot of diapers. :)
Praise the Lord!!
ReplyDeleteWill continue to pray for continued progress with feeding.
You are extraordinary people, you have extraordinary children. I love you all. Please let me know when you need me to come down!
ReplyDeleteYEAH JAMES!!!!
ReplyDeleteSuch wonderful news!
Hi Bonnie,
ReplyDeleteI haven't commented before but I have been following your story and I just want to say how courageous you and your family are. I'm praying for you all!
The diaper story is funny. My older sister aspirated on meconium when my mom was in labor, and was given an Apgar score of 2. She had to spend a couple of weeks in the NICU, even though she was over nine and a half pounds! All the nurses kept asking what "that huge baby" was doing in the NICU.
The doctors were sure that my sister would be blind, be unable to walk on her own, and suffer seizures. What difficulties she actually did have were VERY minor compared to what the doctors foretold. She's a healthy young woman with a child of her own now!
God Bless.
I am just so glad to hear this news. Hope it continues to go well and that he eats them out of house and home over there. So exciting.
ReplyDeleteWoo Hoo! So happy to hear this Bonnie!
ReplyDeleteYAY James! (And YAY God, too!)
ReplyDeleteWoo Hoo!
ReplyDeleteWay to go Baby James! ...sorry, but I can't stop singing the James Taylor tune : )
LOL the diaper story. It is good to make things a little tougher...maybe he can come home sooner!
Pax Christi, E
Still praying hard.
Hurrah! I'm SO excited for you. Eating real food from a bottle is a HUGE step in the life of a NICU baby.
ReplyDeleteThe size 2 diaper problem is super funny. Little James is now triple the weight of some of his baby roommates in the NICU now.
Oh to know that HOME is only a matter of time away!!! Glory to God!! Blessings to you and your family - you live out daily that sometimes the biggest blessings come while we endure the greatest sufferings.
ReplyDeleteSo happy for you and James. Ahhh the power of prayer! Karen
ReplyDeleteHope everything is going well. People at work ask how the blog babies are doing. Blog baby Tess is home now watching out for an d praying for Blog Baby James.
